Terms of Service

1. The service

Understudy is an interview-preparation workspace for software engineers: a resume editor, learning content, practice questions, AI-assisted coaching, and live voice mock interviews. These terms are an agreement between you and Mohamed Ashraf, a sole trader based in Beni Suef, Egypt, who operates Understudy. Purchases are sold by our merchant of record, whose own entity details appear at checkout and on your invoice.

2. Who can use Understudy

You must be at least 18 years old and confirm this during registration. Accounts are personal; keep your credentials to yourself and tell us promptly if you believe your account is compromised.

3. Subscriptions, trials, and allowances

• Understudy Pro costs USD 20 per month and Understudy Pro+ USD 40 per month, plus applicable taxes; both renew automatically until cancelled.
• New subscriptions start with a 3-day card-required trial including 10 AI actions and 10 minutes of live mock interviews.
• A paid month of Pro includes 100 AI actions and 45 minutes of live mock interview time; Pro+ includes 300 AI actions and 90 minutes. A single mock may run up to 15 minutes, and is charged for the time actually spent in it, rounded up to the minute. Allowances reset each billing period and do not roll over.
• Payments are processed by our merchant of record; their buyer terms also apply and prevail where more favorable to you.
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Refunds are described in the Refunds & cancellation policy.

4. Your content

Your resume, answers, notes, and progress remain yours. You give us the limited rights needed to store and process them to run the service, including sending relevant content to our AI provider to generate responses (see the AI disclosure). You can export your data and permanently delete your account at any time from Settings. Ending a subscription does not itself delete your account or content.

5. Acceptable use

Don’t abuse the service: no scraping other users, probing our infrastructure, reselling access, evading usage limits, or using the AI features to generate unlawful content. We may suspend accounts that do.

6. No outcome promises

Understudy helps you prepare; it does not and cannot promise interviews, offers, or any hiring outcome. AI-generated content can be wrong — review it before relying on it.

7. Liability

The service is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights that mandatory consumer law grants you.

8. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect. Questions: support@understudyhq.com.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the courts of Egypt have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, and it does not affect your purchase, which is made from our merchant of record under their own buyer terms.
